Douglas J. Swanson, CTP
Principal
Doug Swanson has more than 35 years' experience in accounting, taxation, mergers and acquisitions, turnaround management, and general corporate management. He has also earned the designation of Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) from the Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals.
He was associated with a Big Six accounting firm for 23 years where he was the partner in charge of the tax practice in the Greensboro office. There he served public and privately held clients in a wide variety of industries including textile, furniture, and apparel manufacturers, distributors, and service firms. His areas of specialty included mergers and acquisitions, accounting methods, inventories, tax examinations and resolution, and personal and estate taxation.
Mr. Swanson also has experience as a small business owner. For two and a half years he operated a printing company with a partner.
As a turnaround professional, he has served in an executive or consulting capacity for companies having sales ranging from $5 to $250 million. These clients have been engaged in industries including distribution, manufacturing (textiles, apparel, steel, furniture), motorsports retail, restaurants and professional services. He has co-authored "How To Save A Client" for the North Carolina State Bar Quarterly. He is a leader in civic, charitable, and professional organizations.
Mr. Swanson is a graduate of the University of Denver where he earned a degree in business administration with a major in accounting.
