Certification in Distressed Business Valuation

The Certification in Distressed Business Valuation trains and accredits those professionals who value distressed assets, including distressed and/or bankrupt companies. Administered by the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors, the designation reflects both the recipient's experience and professional education.

The certification program is made up of three required parts, through which candidates must gain an understanding of the Bankruptcy Code and its impact on the valuation of distressed businesses, valuation concepts and principles, and application of these concepts to the valuation of distressed businesses. Material experience in performing valuations is also required and is assessed through a review of the quantity, quality, thoroughness and extent of these valuations. Certification recipients must be AIRA members in good standing.
